Tongan Live Rock

Any one interested in splitting some Tongan Live Rock? I have a source that I can get it from for $2.45/lb. This would be a one time order that would be sent with some other stuff they are sending me, so there will not be a shipping charge. I'm thinking of ordering around 100lbs, so I was just curious as to whether or not anyone else might want some as well. FYI: the Rock would be coming from Aquaco, though that is not the source that would actually be sending it to me.

no minimum quantity, they're just sending me whatever I need. I was thinking of getting between 75 and 100lbs for myself, but they'll send whatever quantity I ask for. The shippings already covered, so it has no bearing on the amount being sent.

would this rock be considered seasoned, or would it have to go through a cycle phase before adding it to a reef?

What makes Tongan rock different than others? I googled and the one reference I found to it said it is deep water rock that is shaped like shelves. Is this accurate?

Shivley,

When would you be ordering this? I might be interested in ordering 20Lbs or so. Also, as bored4long asked, is it cured or uncured?

Regards,

Michael

I was just told that the Tongan rock was cheap because it had been in storage for quite some time, without adequate lighting. As such, much of the coralline has died off, as has the majority of the rock's other life.

That's not the kind of rock that I was hoping for, so I, for one, plan to pass on it. If you guys still want it I can still get it for you.

I'm not sure if this is a great deal or not, but they are now offering freshly imported Marshall Island rock for just over $3 a lb. in increments of 35 lbs. So, I think that I might go that route unless somewhat chimes in with a better deal locally.

Shiveley,

I'm with you. I'm not interested in LR thats been sitting around awhile and without the abundance of life that makes it 'Live' rock. So I will pass. How much of the Marshall Island Rock were you thinking of getting. I would consider adding to your order and spitting the shipping costs if you were interested and the timing is right. Is this a local supplier or one of the bigger online companies? Let me know.

I have heard that Premium Aquatics has decent LR, anybody out there with an opinion?

Regards,

Michael

I got my marshall island rock from premium aquatics and it was very good qaulity but if you can get it for $3.00 a lb thats a very good deal!
