Thanks guys.Lots of usefull info here. Iam ready to wrap this up & buy my equipment this week. A friend of mines offerd me a Eshopps dual hob overflow model ES1000 rated for 1000 GPH. Like a said before i have 80 aga main tank and a 90gal tank that i will be using as a sump/fuge (48x18x24) I think iam gonna baffle this tank as follows Inlet,Return,Fuge so my fuge wont be subjected to high water flow. I was thinking of getting a pump & teeing it off & run some of this flow back into the fuge iinstead of adding a single ball valve and putting back pressure on the pump Question: What size return pump should i get to run with this overflow? Brand? Thanks Again Reefers.........

Havnt decided yet. Can i have your opinion for both External GHP & internal?I almost have my mind set on External. Please LMK.. Thanks.

eheim pumps are very popular for low wattage and low heat. this may be considered if you are not putting a chiller in right away. pan world pumps are nice too. on a budget hmm rio, but dont use it for more than 6 months..

What about a Pan World 50PX-X 0r a Gen X Mak4 ? Are these Pumps to much flow for the setup that i posted above or can i get away with it? Iam just thinking does it make sense to do 2 pumps 1 return & 1 closed loop Or one larger pump spliting the flow & running spray bars in tank & sending some of this return back into the sump. Dont want to cause bubles in sump that i cant handle........Thanks in advance.

A mag 9.5 would be perfect for your setup. I had a similar setup... only my dual overflow is rated at 1200gph and my tank is 125. I "T'd" off one of the overflow lines and added a ball valve to it....restricted the flow to maybe 50-60gph. Then the other side of the T'd off line, as well as the other overflow drain directly to the sump side.... and everything meets in the middle (return). Then, later I decided to use a seperate overflow box (600gph) on the opposite side of the tank. I have a ball valve on its drain hose, and it runs to the 30g drilled fuge I added... which gravity drains to the old fuge that I built into the sump.

Anyway.. sorry got sidetracked. A mag 9.5 would be perfect for you assuming you have some head room (maybe 4' or so?). If that is too much, which I doubt it is, a mag 7 would be good to. I have had nothing but really good experiences with mag drive pumps. HTH!!

the pan x pump you mentioned above would work well, or and eheim 1262 would be good choices. you mentioned a second pump for a closed loop. that is a very debatable subject. some love closed loops others prefer tunzes in the long run cost may be very similar to set up. but the tunzes will use less electricty, less heat, and you will have the ability to move them around to dail in you flow. you could also put a t in your drain and split some water to fuge for flow while the other to the hmm filter sock or .... i hope this helps.
