Too close for comfort?

Looks like these two are a lite too close to each other. Should I just let them fight it out or try to trim them each so they are not touching? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430263372.858510.jpg

if theres a way to move them away from eachother. i would suggest moving, if not leave them be, but you might wake up to a half dead SPS colony! and i believe they secrete a mucus or strings that attacks the prey :)

+1 one of them will win, and as it wins itll keep winning until the other one is taken over entirely, if you CAN move one of them, I would. I like to envision what an appropriate sized colony would look like when mounting sps pieces and give that much room. Tank looks bare for a year or more though until they really fill in. Shrug

I'm of the other camp and love that mine are bumping into each other and starting to look like a genuine reef. Sticks up top, LPS on the bottom and let grow!

What do you do to make sure you're not going to lose colonies? Is acro vs. acro somewhat peaceful usually??? My tank is only frags currently, and the last time I got close to having colonies against colonies I had a crash. :(

In a healthy system, acros should be just fine near each other and branches will intertwine. One will inhibit its growth and the other will take advantage, but you shouldn't have any die off, I only less growth from one

I enjoy a little bump and fight, and with over 4 dozen species of acros, it's hard to see the impact.

It really depends. Some can coexist in close proximity and some can not. My green slimmer and sunset milli are just about touching with no interaction at all. My pink birdsnest looses tips any time it gets close to either of those. I have to trim it back from time to time. Just see how they react once they get in striking distance. You may have to do some thing or you may not.
