too early to worry about missing lineatus wrasse?

I added this guy 4 days ago to my tank. At that time, he was picked on my strawberry pseudo right off. He hid for the 2 days occasionally Ill see his head pop out from some where. I took out the pseudo 2 days ago, and the wrasse came out right away. And he was eating along with the rest of my fishes. That night was the last time I saw him. I did not see him yesterday or all today. The top of my tank is closed off and I have checked my sump and overflow box for him and also the back of the tank.
I did notice a mucous spider web looking thing on the base of my live rock, Im hoping it isnt the body of the fish decomposing.
If you guys can please tell me theres a good chance he is hiding, then it would make my day. Thanks

Lineatus makes a snot cocoon to sleep in at night, i would be worried about the fish I have 13 fairy wrasses and none of them would disappear for more then 8 hours. I lost a Pink Margin from my snowflake eel doing his bulldozer impersonation and dropping some live rock on him, since I found his body under some rock that I found out of place. What other fish do you have with him?

i have a yellow tang, anthia, exquiste wrasse which left the lineatus alone, yellow goby, mandairn, and 2 clowns. Is that what the mucous thing was the snoot coccon?

he might have jumped out... Look on the floor...

you will see the mucus cocoon in the tank in the morning. They do this to hide their smell from predators (which you have none). If he isn't in the tank, my bet is he is on the floor.

the tank has a canopy over it and i blocked every inch of the back with eggcrate. I have looked throughly in the back anyways, so that rules that out. I forgot to mention that I do have a rose anenome, but i doubt my clowns would have let it get that close.

So i guess my question is will these wrasse hide out for days? Is that in their nature?

it is quite possible it is hiding. My friends flame wrasse hid for a week. she was certain i died,. but it came out one day and starting eating..

rip apart the tank if you're really concerned...

im praying that is the same situation with this guy..
but ripping the tank apart and not finding him will be insult to injury

ill wait it out and hope for teh best...

I had a leopard wrasse the hid for over a week and I thought I had lost him. I also had a Scotts fairy wrasse that hid for about four days before he came out.

Did you find your wrasse?

i had a kole tang that i didn't see very often when I first got it and then didn't see it for days in a row. I was set on finding the little buggar and then I saw something under a rock that didn't resemble a fish except for the eyes...he was decaying - UNDER a rock. It was a sad, sad day - I hope that isn't what happens with your wrasse!

Fairy Wrasses are generally very active fish so I hate to say it but it is probably either still stressed and hiding or it dead. Look under the base of your rocks and see if you can see his head sticking out of any holes. The spider web like substance you saw is their mucus sac that they put over their sleeping hole. If you just saw it this morning then you was at least alive through the night.
Do you run MH's on your tank? My Ruby Margin Fairy Wrasse jumped out of the tank one time and hit one of the bulbs. It burned him pretty bad but he did end up recovering. He ended up hiding for about a week but eventually started to slowly come out and eat.
