too many fish??

I have a six line wrasse and a firefish that get along very well in my 29 gallon. I am planning to add a pair of allardis, would this be overstocking? I have had 2 ocellaris before with the same set up with no problems

Allardis get to be about 5" or 6" long. They will get too big for a 29. On top of that, if they hold true to the typical personality of clarkii-complex clownfish, they'll become very territorial and aggressive. I'd stick to either ocellaris or percula.

My thoughts too -- wouldn't have any "large" aggressive clown complex in that sized tank.

Not too many fish if you have the intentions of upgrading tank size in the future :)

I don't mean to be rude, but this is bad advice. Always plan your stocklist for the tank you already have. Lots of people intend to "eventually" get a bigger tank, but never do. There's always time to actually upgrade to a bigger tank and then get bigger fish.

You're not being rude. I was pretty vague with my original post in this thread. If the OP bought a pair of juvi Allardis with a for sure plan to upgrade the tank in a relevant time, then I see no harm in it. Just make sure there is good skimming action and routine water changes. For example, I am upgrading my 29 gallon reef to a 110 within the next month. My current stock list exceeds IMO a 29 gallon setup but after my upgrade, well obviously I'll be more then ok. Of course this is all hypothetical :). But back to the OP, yes, having four fish in a 29 gallon seems a tad bit too much. I wouldn't push it past three. GL.

I should have done my research... I didn't know they got that big. That could definitely be an issue.
