Too Much Flow!!

On a 125g tank I have a MJ mod shooting out 2000gph and I picked up another one from Leighton the other day and figured I would try it out. So I put the second one on the other side.   a cyclone the full height of the tank started ripping through my tank kicking up all kinds of sand. A cleaner shrimp was caught in it and flew all over the tank. Is it the placement or just not going to work in this tank? I have a neighbor just starting his tank without any flow except his return on a 75g. If it is that I can't use it I'll give it to him.I have a tunze 6045 on the other side now. I wanted to give my neighbor that and have the two MJ mods shooting 2000gph both directions. Is there a solution or give him the MJ mod?

How high up are they? I've had a Tunze 6060 and Seio 1100 in a 36" tank without any problems. They were both near the surface but gave nice chaotic action throughout the tank.

In my old 125 I had a high flow mjmod, a medium mjmod, a Seio 1500, a K4 and two shroud modded mj1200's on a wavetimer and it wasn't too much flow. I also used southdown which does move quite a bit. Not counting the return, the chiller return, the cannister return that was about 8,000 gph and I could have used more flow. :D

The sand will go where it wants but it will settle down. You may have to move it around once it settles out...I did. I also had about 200 lbs of rock in the tank.

So, it's not at all too much flow? and as long as I can find a happy medium of not everything looking like a tsunami I'll be ok? Sweet. I have some things I'm going to try and keep you posted.

According to some people (Chad) there's no such thing as too much flow. His poor chevron (RIP) would try to nip algae off of his tunzes, and then when they turned back on (they were on a timer) he'd get slammed to the other side of the tank, only to be slammed back to the other side when that tunze kicked on :(

Try putting them on the same horizontal plane pointing in the same direction:

Worth a try, that way there is no cyclone collision in the middle. That will be first attempt than I was talking with Baron about putting them not directly in front of each other to also cut down on the collision.
