Too much light for BTA???

The anemone was sold to me as a bleached RBTA for cheap about 4 weeks ago by a local reefer. Since I've had it I have not seen any rose color except for the bright pink/red tips the rest of it is kind of a light green. So I moved it from the bottom of the tank to the top so it would be closer to the light. The BTA is about 9 inches from the light, and doesn't look as good as it did before I moved it. I hasnt moved on its own since the second night It had it.

Depending on the change in the height...those T5's are not just HO they are VHO quite over driven by the Aquantics ballast.

I would have to say it is now acclimating to the new intensity of the light.

I think in that tank, with that fixture, you want it mid way from the top and bottom.

If it was bleached. That means it was placed under bright lights that it was not acclimated to or just severely stressed out. When this happens it will expel it's zooxanthellae. These are algae that live inside it tissue and help feed it.

You need to let it hide-out low in the tank while it builds new colonies of zooxanthellae. Make sure you are feeding it silver sides or squid etc.., you need to.

How's it's mouth and foot look? Do you have a picture?

I'd put back lower, when it's ready and wants more light it will move on it's own.

I would move the anemone as little as possible. They have the capability to move on their own, and if it's really unhappy, he will move.

Have you tried feeding it? I think a lot of people underestimate how important feeding is, especially if it's bleached!!!

The more you handle and disturb and unhealthy and unhappy animal, the worse you make it. Try small pieces of shrimp or krill. Don't force feed it if it doesn't want to eat, you can tear or damage it if you do.

Also, the Aquactinics TX5 fixture is a T5 HO fixture. The Solar Flare is the overdriven, T5 VHO fixture.

I think it will do just fine at the bottom of the tank, they do not require as much light as ppl believe. I had mine under 72watts PC lighting and it loved it.
