I dont have a timer on my nano and turn the flouresent lights on about 5am. I turn them off when I return home at 7/8pm. Is this too much light? I have a CUC with an emerald crab and new zoanthids and polys.

You should get a couple of cheap timers from Wal-Mart.

Turn on the blues around 7am, add the days at 8 and then turn off the days at 7pm and the blues at 8.

I agree just use timers.. I do this so I have consistancy. Also I'm a bit greedy and like to see my corals and fish before I leave for work.

I have actinics and 10k bulbs. In the morning I use the actinics for an hr or so and then both are on throught the day for about 10hrs or so.

I'd get timers also, sounds like your lights are only on when you arent home. What's the fun in that? Have them come on around noon and then maybe kick off around 10 or so.
