too much light for sps tank?

Right now I got a 48"x20"13" 55 gallon tank. Currently have a 48" 2x250w MH with 2x96w actinic. This tank is new but currently is and will be sps dominated. Do you think I will be fine if I wanted to replace my 250w MH with 150w?

Now way that's too much light. My buddy uses 400s on his shallow frag tanks. 250 is the normal light for an sps tank.

Yeah I'd say 150 are to weak for sps. When I had 175 watts mh my sps grew well, then I moved them to 250 watts with new reflectors and the colored up real nice and had major growth.

If its a new setup be prepared to bake your new corals. Your light is totally on the money but observe where you get corals from. The trend these days is to keep them under weak blue T5s. They look great, and will do better in your tank but acclimate carefully!!
