Too much light = no growth?

I've had a Monti Cap that has done nothing for the past 3 months. It encrusted a 1/16" x 1/16" area and that is it. It is very high up and getting pretty direct sunlight. The color is good, but a bit faded from when I got it from another reefer.

Any ideas? My other SPS are growing fine and my parameters are good.

some monti's are very slow, I got a orange monti from a friend that was the size of a quarter last February, one year later it is the size of a silver dollar. give it time.

it sometimes can take a while untill the new corals begin to grow because your water is maybe a bit different than the water of the other reefer so the coral just needs time ...

Try a lower light area of the tank, when I moved mine down from the halides it really took off. It was about the size of a hockey puck when I got it and less than a year later it is double that, if not more.

Thanks guys. I just moved it down to see if it gets better. There was a spot of white on it today when I got home. Can Monti's RTN/STN? Hope not..

I got this at the size of a quarter 1 year ago.

It loves the middle of the tank and I have the lights 14" above the water. I have placed other caps up high but they didnt grow so fast.

DaddJax, that makes me feel better. It is about 10" from the surface of the water and the bulb is 8" away. My water is pretty clear thanks to my skimmer and lots of carbon.
