Im running 2 150 hpi and 2 96wpc of a 55w mixed reef its a coral life fixture and i got it for 10p bucks.. but is it too much? And how high should i hang it? Any info is good thanks
Assuming you mean 55 gallon, it's plenty of light for most anything... Most corals can adapt to more light then they actually 'need'... You just may need to acclimate them slowly to it. Honestly though 2-150w MH and 96w actinic isn't a ton for that size tank.
ides just raise it high enough so that the 2 MH covers your 55g tank and leave the pc off. the pc consumes too much wattage for the lumesn it provides and will also wash out the shimmer effect. the two MH is plenty for 14" height mix reed 55g reg.
Sorry about the lack of info the tank is 48x18dx12 and I think they r Phoenix 14k bulbs. Just got it yesterday I already changed the PC to 460s plan on changing hmm bulb soon. There are still good. And right now I have a bunch of zoanithids and lps only have two Sos right now tank. Tank is about 10ms old. Also two nems.
Googling can yeild outdated or even bad advice. For example, id have never had confirmation about what exact issue to watch for with my lights (and possibly how to anticipate and adapt to that as i develop my system) if you hadn't personally responded to a post of mine.
Its funny when u goigle something 9 times of 10 it has reef forums for answers. So basiclly i just cut out the middle man. But thanks fir ur worthless comment. It just goes to show there really at idoits everywhere
