Too much light???

I have a 38 gallon, 36 inches wide, 18 inches tall. Anyway, I am running 96 watt power compacts. I just replaced the bulbs and don't think I acclimated them correct. My candycane is up high and looks quite bleached.
1. Is this too much light?
2. On the box it says 75.25, what does this mean?

IMO that is not too much light you might try cutting back the photo period a few hours for like a week and then take it back to the normal but i dont think its needed

I agree, probably not to shocking with PC's.

As for the 75.25 could be something like, 75% 10K, 25% actinic?? I don't really know. What kind of bulbs did you buy, what does it say on the package.

Although that's not too much light for your tank, it may have been too much for the candy cane all at once since it is high up in the tank. I'd try to move it down, or run your lights fewer hours for a few days, or lay some window screen across the top of your tank for a few days while the bulbs break in and the corals acclimate.

1. Is this too much light? No

2. On the box it says 75.25. If you are refering to the bulb it means 75/25: 75% actinic light/25%daylight.

Depending on how old the old bulbs are, you may have shocked the candy cane. If it is two bulbs you can change out one (I do the actinic first) and then two weeks later do the other bulb.

It will probably come back on its own but if you want to you can:

1. raise the light up and slowly bring it back down. = Maybe
2. take one new bulb out and replace with the old for a while. = probably not
3. put some sort of shade between the light and coral (some people use screen, say start with 4-6 and remove slowly over time. = Sure, but a hastle.
4. Cut the photoperiod back a couple hours and slowly bring it back up about an hour a week. = Now were talkin
5. just leave it be. = the riskiest, but IMHO you will be fine
6. Or you could always move the coral down and slowly bring it back up to the top of thge tank. = depends on coral size and how easy it would be
