wow this thread spread like wild fire, Its crazy 1/2 say yes 1/2 say its over kill. All I know is yes electricity bill will be much higher, it will also be hot! I must acclimate them very slowly cause it would shock em. I still have not bought them until i get advice from you guys, and thank you so much for the great response. I am thinking If i buy them I can always get rid of them for something more suitable for my tank and what not! I was gonna try to suspend them from the ceiling. I will keep you notified. Thank You all

Bottom line is that it is more light than you need for the tank.
You can suspend the lights up high and find a way to make it work but does it make sense to you to use twice as much energy as really needed and generate twice the heat to light the tank?
If it doesnt matter to you, then go for it.
Keep one thing in mind though ... there is some light spill with pendants and the higher you hang them over the tank, the more the light spills beyond the tank. If they are too high the light directly from the pendants can actually be a distraction when viewing the tank depending on your normal viewing position. ie ... sitting on the couch in the living room for example.

So there are those factors which may or may not be an issue. But I think the bottom line answer is yes, you could probably make them work if hanging them but no, you dont need that much light for your tank ... or the extra heat or the additional energy used.
Again, you always have the option of selling the ballasts and lamps and swithcing the system to 175 or 250 watt. The Pendants are fine for all 3 wattages.

Good luck.
