too much

So I've been concentrating my efforts lately on my new 33g long, but I had a quick question about my other tank - a 24 g nano cube with 150w Halide....

Currently I have a false perc (I'm pretty sure... not great at tellin true/false and perc/oc. from each other).... she's pretty good size, proly 2-2.5" right now... been in my tank for almost a year...
Also have a bta in there that she loves that split a few weeks ago...

so the question is, would it be bad/too much to add a second much smaller false perc in the hopes of them pairing up?
There's a 6 line in there, but he doesn't really bother the clown or anyone else at all....

Is a 24g nano too small for a pair? Is my current clown going to beat the crap out of any new one no matter how small, or will they just fight a few days and then proly be ok?
I have the second tank with no fish in it currently that I can switch the new one to if there's a problem....

Your tank is big enough for a pair. It should be ok to put a smaller oc in there. She make be mean to the other one for a few days until it submits but for the most part oc are mild-mannered especially compared to maroons or tomatoes. I would keep a eye on them.

I would get a captive bred clown, that way you are sure of getting a juvenile. 2 ocellaris and a small wrasse should be not problem at all for a 24g. You can always keep the juvenile separated in a mesh (or plastic canvas) basket for a few days to be sure your female likes him.

From my experiences, there's about a 15-20% chance the large clown won't kill the small clown. I think I went through 3 clowns before 1 survived.
Since it's only a 24 gallon, you could take the large clown out and more the rocks around some, then add both clowns back in at the same time. Sometimes it will cause the larger clown to lose some of it's territorial instincts due to the "new" aquascaping :)
