I am thinking about getting a mantis shrimp for a 3 gallon picotope that I have..I was wondering if there was any mantis that would be suitable for this small of a tank, also where could I buy one? Thanks..
3g may be suitable for a gonodactyloid, but I would recommend getting atleast a 6g-12g for one. Where lies the problem, most LFS stay away from mantis shrimp and just flush them if they have the chance. Others keep them for sale. You can just go to a LFS and ask them to get you in a small one, but the species will vary. You can order from online sources www.liveaquaria.comwww.saltwaterfish.com and www.sharkysreef.com. I just bought mine from Liveaquaria and I believe they have another in stock, but again, the picture will probably not look like your mantis becasue at the bottom it says "Species varies". Goodluck.

you may want to look for the neogonodactyloid b/c there are some smaller than the gonodactyloid species. A N. Wenn doesn't get very big and you can get them @ www.tampabaysaltwater.com
