Top down of a few LPS

The infamous Mike's Underoos Favia! (see the yellow pee stains..ewwwwwwww ) Although I suspect this is identical to the one Tyree (and others) are labeling the "Triple Threat" favia, what's different? Well mine lacks green highlights, however this is because there isn't any blue light over it (hell hardly any light over it all) you shine it with blue leds or put actinic or 20k bulbs over it and green pops out like a mother. I've had this little colony about 3 years, it grows as fast as I'm willing to spot feed it, however the survivability of this of frags I've made is not very high

Here's some Acan Lords I've had for a while too, gave some to a local, which I think he called "Gangrenous Green Lords" or something like that... I like that name, props to Mr. Ugly for the name

Here's my other massive lord colony.. I really wish these things didn't like to be spot fed, imagine spot feeding a polyp and multiply that by a few hundred! I'd try the ol' 2-liter top cut off and held upside down trick except these rocks are bigger than a 2 liter.. btw Lords will chew up a chalice without any problems.. just a FYI It's amazing how nice they look when macroed in tightly.

drummereef: Thanks, funny thing is most see that as my most plain looking one, the standard "candy cane" look.. I probably have anywhere from 50-100 polyps on the rock though, no one wants my acans *waaaa* hehehe..

Iron Chef (Bobby Fray!): Send them? Ha! Seriously, I wouldn't know the first thing about shipping corals, never received them nor sent them. Besides Lords are so last year, so no one usually wants them.

lol....naw, I was just joking All the big nasty Canadians are shipped to your border, where they work for our Customs department. So I doubt they'd make it through anyway...lol. And Lords are definitely still cool and amazing in my books.

Yeah Lords are still a nice warm fuzzy spot in my heart, although so much "Aussie" stuff is coming in that it's cheesing me off, now don't get me wrong it looks nice, but LFS owners (both online and brick & Mortar) are trying to cash in as fast as they can in a complete chop-shop manner just because it's "Aussie".. I mean ok so it's a nice bright red, but it's still a "Candycane' stripe pattern. There are some that are definitely worth the cash, but so far I see common "Aussie" stuff still going for $46/50 a head. That being said, I can't wait until the market is oversaturated and then little colonies start going for that price

Anyways rant aside, here are some new shots I took

First what's in my show tank (and I use that term quite loosely).

Oh my a chalice! And not a watermelon, that green stuff you see is algae growth. I just now realized (via the picture) that it has a very dark rim on it, along the lines of the "Darth Maul" chalice (yeah don't ask..*sigh*.. but I know the guy who had the original colony so it's cool ). Anyways on the it's a little beat up, as you can see on the left side, guess who wins in a battle of chalice vs acan lord when the chalice falls into the lords? Yeah.. well needless to say chalice's new spot is on the floor of the aquarium.

Next up is some Blastomussa Wellsi, some really sparkly looking cool ones, and some dark and menacing looking ones. It's funny for the longest time they would not capture mysis or anything else I tried to spot feed, now? Hell they're looking all evil with spikey looking capture tenticles.. ehh it's ok though because that means they grow faster!

I have a few other not that interesting lps, which not pictured (big red/purplish open brain, tan*coubrowngh* with green eye favite, standard candy cane... either way not worth the picture.

Onto my frag grow out tank that's connected and in my greenhouse, for the most part this thing is lit by filtered natural sunlight (filtered by fiberglass panels which really do block a lot of the light), hopefully soon I'll replace them with transparent panels. Anyways, I love/hate this growout tank, love it because the light is practically free! Hate because it grows little green & red fuzzy algae like crazy! I and I honestly don't know of any way to deal with it, snails don't seem to work, emerald crabs, nothing.

Ok enough bellyaching.
More blastos, these guys got put on my endangered species list, simply because they were not growing/multiplying in my tank, the whole rock was once red with them, then down to maybe a half dozen here there. Now they're making a come back, thanks to their recent acceptance of food. Unfortunately the whole rock is continuously growing the above mentioned algae, but it seems like these guys are out trying to competing it!!
Some red Blasto. Wellsi again.. look at that evilness! (Funny yet true story, these were almost cast for the part of Diablo in the game ). This is a shallow tank so got to use my super macro feature!

This is a Tongan Acan Echinata I got at the height of the Acan craze for free through a workshop, in hindsight I did look silly lusting after it at the time.. goes to show you some of the stupid things we did, oh yah it was solid brown, nothing, nada, zip else.. now it's matured into a very lovely little lady. More so at night when the feeding tenticles come out in full force (unfortunately I'm not adept enough to take pictures with moonlights).

And wouldn't you know it? Another freebe Echinata I got from a LFS because his stony tank crashed pretty hard and he knew I could take care of this. Absolutely huge colony worth of these guys, I would love to frag up and pass out. Eh.. I'll see, for now they're super easy to spot feed in my frag growout tank

Great pics! What do you spot feed your favia and blastos with? I have some that I haven't been feeding, and they don't look so wonderful.

Mysis shrimp. The routine goes like this, throw a frozen hunk in some water, then drain it off along with all the juices, put the drained stuff back in the cup, add tank water, then use a syringe to give them their snacks.

Also the favia will need to have the feeder tents. out, my picture does not show this, unfortunately this is usually at night time after the lights have been out at least 15 minutes.

The blastos same deal, although their feeders aren't that easy to pick out like the others, so I simply squirt a mysid on it, and if it sticks great, if not, no food for them.

What? Feeder tent? I've never heard of this. Sorry if I'm highjacking your thread but what is a feeder tent?

Ha! :lol: I just reread and realized you said they need to have their feeder tentacles out (so do it when the lights are out). Geez! At first I thought you were using a secret weapon...some kind of special tent for feeding these guys. :lol:

sorry, feeder tent. = short for feeder tentacles. But some people do use the top of a 2 liter bottle over some colonies and squirt in there rather than spot feed, this could be a "feeder tent" I suppose I don't go this route simply because small ones I have are just as easy to feed each mouth, and my larger ones (the lords in the first pic) are wider than a 2liter so it wouldn't work, so I just give them an overall spray of mysis and which ever ones capture food good for them.

But don't worry about "hijacking" the posts are completely relevant to what I started. Plus it keeps my post bumped so others can see
