Ive been useing water from the culligan machine at wal-mart for my top offs and mixed with oceanic salt for my water changes. Is that good quality water or shoud I be useing something else?

I used the same here locally for awhile until I got my own RO/DI unit. I tested with a TDS meter regularly and had no problems.

Water vending machines are not regulated by any health authorities in most areas so I would say you are at the mercy of whoever maintains the machine if at all. They are designed for good tasting drinking water and not reef water so I wouldn't do it myself unless I could check it with my own TDS meter every time I bought water. I would bet money it is going to be inconsistent at best.
Get a RO/DI, it will save you money and give you consistent water quality every time that you have control of.

I use that same water from the culligan machine. The machine is tested monthly and the reports are posted on the machine. It usually has a TDS reading of 13 or 14 PPM. That is alot better then the 400 PPM I get from my tap water.

ive never used anything except water from water fountains like that at wall mart. I check to make sure it says DI, RO, charcoal and all that. Never had any problems.
