My torch retracts every evening as the lights turn down. Is this normal? It opens back up as the light comes back up (next day.) Can't tell if this is related to ph or light.
my torch does the same thing. Starts closing up around 8 pm but my lights dont go off till about 10 pm. I would say its just following its own schedule.
Thats what most corals do..
At night they close up as they can sense there is no light and thus do not need to expand to collect energy from it.. Then they open up in the day to spread out to allow energy to be collected to make food/energy for them..
Totally normal.. Welcome to your first coral..
And yes a "torch" is a LPS (long polyp stony) coral as it has a "stony" skeleton (the tree branch looking part its growing out of) and "long polyps" (the green,etc.. flowing polyps)..
