We have two torch corals in our tank. One we've had for 6 weeks or so and it's thriving. Always fully open and it's noticeably grown since we've had it. I added a second torch coral that had been recently fragged about a week ago. It looked great for the first 3-4 days and then it started to go downhill rapidly. I'm at a loss for what would could have caused it since everything else in the tank including the other torch coral look great.
Picture of it the first day we got it, the flow was turned off in the tank which was why it looks droopy.
The other torch coral.
Picture of the dying torch today, about half of it's exoskeleton is visible. I moved it to an area with less flow and light, not sure if I should do the opposite of that. I don't think there is any saving it.
Water parameters
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates Less than 5
Alkalinity 9.3
Calcium 400
Magnesium 1400
Salinity 1.025
PH 8.17
Temp 78.9
It's a 4ft 90 gallon tank with two Hydra52's. I'm hoping to borrow a PAR meter soon from a local reefers club to get a better idea of how strong our lights are, at the high point of the day they're running 50%, all blue.
Anything thoughts on what could have caused the torch to die so quickly?
