Torch Coral polyp degredation.

This afternoon I noticed my Torch coral had all the polyps drawn in on one head. This isn't unusual as it does this when it rids itself of waste. But this time it looked like there was an excessive amount of waste there so I puffed it with a turkey baster and most of the polyp was the dark gooey looking stuff. I was a little surprised when it was blown away as it was all the way to the skeleton.
This was an otherwise very healthy and growing coral. I did however crush in the thin ridge of new growth where I highlighted in yellow in the pic attached. I am thinking this may be the cause but in case its not and may be something I need to treat I wanted to get more opinions.
I also have a frogspawn coral several inches from it. Very healthy. And there is no sign of any super long polyps that could reach the torch coral. Is it possible it has such polyps that it can inflate to reach that far and could a sting from it do that to the torch coral?

Its hard to tell from the picture but it looks like brown jelly. If it is you will most likely see the head rapidly decline. I find that torches can be finicky and its not uncommon to randomly lose a head especially if its not aquacultured. As far as torch vs frogspawn, torch usually wins. I've seen euphyllia stinger tentacles 6" but usually you can see them lengthen before they do the damage.
