Torch Coral was splitting now part is dead...
<hr style="color:#FFFFFF; background-color:#FFFFFF" size="1"> My Torch was in the process of splitting into two heads but now one section is dead and the other still has a mouth. This is happening/happened on a few heads and also on one of my small trumpets... Is this common?

I am worried because my frogspawn is in the process of splitting into another head as well.... :mad2:

watch to see if anything is stressing them out, also what are you doing for feeding>(coral feeding) ? i'd test the water and maybe the position of where the coral is if your doubting the placement color and how large they open up is usually the best indicator if you need to move.

best of luck

They are pretty much always open moving around, they have been in the same spot since being placed in the tank.

as for water params:

Phos ~ 1 and dropping
Nitrates ~ 10 and dropping
Nitrite - 0
Mg ~ 1300
alk 9
Calc ~ 500
Ph ~ 8.2

I do 30 gallon water change every 1-2 weeks - depends on params

I don't normally target feed...

I do feed zooplex/phytoplex 2-3x a week

what you are seeing may not be "splitting," it may be an LPS bacterial infection that's spreading around your tank. Can you post some photos?

I will get some tonight - I don't think its a infection of sorts it's clearly splitting... they don't look stressed.
