torch coral

No. It will sting the crap out of them. First hand experience. My torch killed a bunch of green sparkle zoas.

Make sure it doesn't touch any neighboring coral when fully extended. Torch is among the most toxic corals.

I've given up on Torch corals, anyone who says they are beginner corals is full of **** plain and simple. In fact, if someone tells me they are beginner corals I write them off as idiots.

They constantly die off in my tank while everything else seems to thrive, they are temperamental and there is a debate on how much light in addition to high vs low flow to them.

They also hate to be moved around so you end up killing the little ****ers trying to find a place they are happy.

No more torch corals in my tank.

I do agree I dont think they are for beginners I have mine in a low flow low light area with nothing around it and seems to be fine but my buddys only thrives in high light low flow

They aren't too complicated. :)

Strong flow, especially in the same constant direction, is not good for them.

When they are "happy", their tentacles will amaze you at how long they get, and anything they touch, they will soon kill.

Their lighting preferences may seem to vary from one tank to the next, but that's the case with most corals to one extent or another. They don't all come from the same depth, on the same reef, in the same ocean. And our lights are not all the same, and neither is our interpretation of what is "high" or "low" - and that applies to flow as well as lighting.

Welcome to reefing, where there are no clear cut answers to anything, ever. LOL

EDIT: BTW, the torch is not a soft coral, it's an LPS. ;)

my torch also likes high flow and good light .. but i also run LEDs its about 6" off surface water and does great .. but they do like to sting other corals .. placement is a plus with any coral ..
