Torque's Nuvo 30L Diary

While on a trip I walked into a reef shop in FL, damn bug bit again. Its been over 10 years since my wife and I sold everything and moved across the country. Now back in the Midwest and talking with the better half I get the green light. Build it.

Still mobil issues (relocate-able) had to keep this project in the nano side unlike the 120 with corner over flows of yest-er-year. After viewing first hand at many walk in locations we (interchangeable with I) chose the Nuvo 30 L. Shallow is the key with wide giving us the view we want.

On Leap Day most supplies arrived and the testing began. Water goes in, there were several early issues in the development of the 30L that were of concern but luckily this one was solid. Except for the pump which in the packaging department over in China they bubble wrapped all the solid parts and left exposed the fragile parts. BRS stood by me and credited the value of the broken pump.

Getting log winded in the first post, wrapping up with the equipment as it stands now.

Nuevo 30L and Stand
2 AI Primes (black) and black stands
IM Ghost Skimmer
IM MiniMax Reactor
2 IM Spin Streams (probably remove these first, noisy)
VorTech MP10QD (thought I would want the w but after research found out the ocean current doesnt stop)
Tunze Ozmolator (wish they had these 10 years ago)
Tunze 1073 Pump
2 15 gallon mix and dump containers

I'll figure out posting the photos and keep this on going, I have a lot of catching up to do to get caught up on this diary.

Just performed another water change and Norm (son named him) is very excited. Plants came out that Salt Water Empire gave us to distract us from thinking about an empty (needy) tank. It worked wonders.

Friday we stock our little tank, thinking soft and Zoas, any inputs for first couple items? Variety of color and movement.

The first week is complete with 'Norm' our first snowflake having his (soon to be hers) run of the neighborhood.

Just returned with a new Snowflake (smaller) and asked the better half to name him. Without missing a beat, "Bates!" Huh, then it hits me. Who is in the tank? Norman Bates, damn sense of humor.

Went along with SWE's suggested two simple frags, let things work themselves out, stabilize in the tank. Selected a neon orange and green ricordea mushroom and a ten polyp colony of zoas, bam I think to myself as the better half walks up and says "the sign says deal on three. Behold, a 3 inch neon green star polyp makes its way home.

Per suggestions I dipped my corals (another first) and was surprised with the amount of life that trys to hitch along. One thing I was surprised to find were a couple bubble algae. Damn it, now going to deal with this in the morning, after studying.

Imagine Elmer Fudd, we're going huntin.
