Okay, we have all added a coral we at first wanted, then decided later we don't want it....too late it has spread way too much. I have some ugly brown zoanthids..my first coral. My green pocilliopora spawned and it is now everywhere and it is threatening my exspensive corals. I cannot physically remove all the pocillipora as i said it is everywhere and places I can't reach it.
Okay here's the question, can I detach and put my corals in my sump with a spare halide, 100 gal sump. Leave all my rock in the tank, turn off all the lights and starve the zoo's and pocillipora by putting them in the dark for a couple of weeks. I could put black posterboard all around the tank and put a thick quilt over the tank and run alot of carbon.

I think it would take a lot longer than that to kill the zoos,maybe just put something in there that will eat them after you take everything else out

It will take a long time for that to work. Not to mention that that much dead matter would destroy your water quality, which would take out the corals you have in the sump.

Its tedious, but the best option will probably be manual removal.

I agree, manual removal. I've seen zoes survive rock cooking for three months. It's strange how they survive when you want them to die, and yet they melt on you when you try to keep them.

Take out the "good" coral and use kalk paste or 2N NaOH to kill the undesired coral. I use this to contol GSP. R

What is 2N NaOH?

2N Na OH is 2 gram molecular weights of sodium hydroxide pellets dissolved in 1 liter of water. You either need to access to a chemistry lab or have a crack lab in the basement. R

The zoanthids will be a pain in the ***, but if you can, you should be able to peel a great deal of them off. As for the pocillipora (spelling?) have you tried using a toothbrush? A good scrubbing will kill ANY coral

The scrubbing will just cause more spreading of the pocillipora
