Who looked at the totm and went huh? seems like all the things we do to our thanks and were told not to do got him a beautiful tank. No ca reactor, canister filters, manual additive dosing, and a pretty heavy feeding schedule

...isn't that the great thing about this hobby?

Though I thought that tank was in Greece, he must not be subject to US reef regulations regarding filtration, feeding and lighting.

;)

:) still funny that all we do and his set up is so simple its beautiful, ...im selling all my expensive stuff and getting 2 fluvals and some buffer :)

A guy I worked with in Cincinnati runs a 300 gallon with NO skimming, NO Ca reactor, feeds heavily, and auto top-off of Kalk and manual additions of Strontium are all he adds. Nuts, right?

He's keeping Ellisella sp. I've never seen anywhere other than underwater with a tank on my back. If it ain't broke...

Goes to show there's no 'right way' in this hobby...!

From speaking with Menard, I've come to believe just one thing is really needed, consistency. Of course keeping it simple, helps a lot too, especially when it comes to money. So it doesn't matter how it gets done, just keep fluctuations down and follow a method you are comfortable with.
