Trachyphyllia coral and toadstool coral...

Hello everyone!

I bought a bright green mint trachyphyllia coral a few days ago and its doing great. I even fe it a coupe times and it accepted the food.
My problem is that I have placed it on the sand bottom next to a toadstool mushroom coral. Today I noticed that the mushroom shrunk so much it was barely visible. It resembled a chewing gum stuck on a rock. Could it be that the trachyphyllia stung the mushroom?

I have already moved the mushroom to another part of the tank and the trachyphyllia is sitting away from anything now.

I have also another question. I have room for another coral and I would like it to be an LPS that would give "movement" to the tank. Any suggestions? Besides the usual hammer frogspawn euphyllia.

Thanks you guys n girls.

A sting from the Trachyphyllia would probably cause the mushroom to shrink up like that. Moving it was a good idea. As far as a coral that would add some movement to the tank goes, Duncans are pretty bulletproof. Hardy, they grow fast, they're not too demanding when it comes down to lighting & flow. Some other options are a Bubble, Heliofungia, Galaxea, Elegance, or perhaps a Goniopra. Just do some research first though. The Elegance, the Goniopora & the Heliofungia are not the easiest corals to keep, and the Galaxea can put out some lengthy sweeper tentacles. GL.
