Trachyphyllia Lighting lots to what it should have

Does anyone know if a Trachyphyllia will do ok going from a lot of light to what it should have?

To be more specific I have a 20 long reef with 130 watts of PC and a 75 with 390 watts of PC lighting. They are both setup with the same bulb types.

The placement of the Trachyphyllia is about 4ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ from the top of the 20 gallon water line and about 7" from the fixture. I know to much light thanks to wrong info from LFS.:( Anyway it has been doing well (it gets huge) in there for 3 months now but I want to put it my 75. Will putting it in the bottom of that tank shock it into death or will it adjust and take on some of the darker colors it used to have?

Thank you all for any help.
:)

So you can see the color difference here are some pictures.

dtburton75,

Fisrt of all [welcome]....

IMHE, Trachyphyllias needs to be place in a shady area of the tank. When I put mine to a well lit area of the tank it did not fully open and looked unhealthy so I moved it to a shady part of the tank. After the relocation, it opened and "looks" happy. hth.

Nice looking trachy. I had my trachy (formally known as wellsophylia) placed on the sand bed and it flourished. It was under 210Watts of PC's and it grew and grew and grew. When I got rid of it due to room issues it was 8" across and up against the glass and rock work. I had mine in the direct light but it was also at the bottom of a 55 gallon tank. In that pic just be careful of the coral to the right of it (frogspawn??? can't quite make it out) it will sting the trachy.

Thanks’ for the welcome, replies, and complements guys.

I moved the track to my 75 the night after the post. I put it on the sand bed and it gets just as big as it did before. One thing I am waiting for is to see if the darker colors come back.

So far So good I will keep you guys posted,

Thanks’ again
Doug
