trachyphyllia questions

Bought this awesome trachyphyllia about 2 weeks ago and it was doing very well.

PIC from wholesaler

Over the last few days I have noticed it doesn't have the polyp extension it had last week. It was very "plump" looking last week and the last few days has looked very firm.

My tank is a 220 which is 30 inches deep. I have the coral sitting on the sandbed under 6 80W T5 bulbs. Is it possible too much lighting? I would think not since It is 30 inches deep and last week it was very plump. The only thing different this week form last was that I turned the carbon reactor back on. I run a mixture of ROX and large particle lignite. could it be the carbon?

I have them on the sand bed with similar lighting doing very well. What is your alk? Also low flow is best

I rarely see feeders out on mine but when I feed I turn all my flow off and just pile up frozen on the trachys mouth. They almost always open up and take the food.

man I could see my shrimp having a blast. My tank is 30 inches deep and it is hard to reach it without a baster

So today I noticed where the mouth is that you can see all the way through right down to the skeleton. Im guessing it is all but done for

Got a current pic? These things are usually pretty hardy....may not be a gonner... What are all your parameters?

dont have a calcium or magnesium test at the moment used my API liquid tests.

KH 9
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
ammonia 0

I did move the piece last night to an area that seems to be less flow and maybe looks like it might be opening a little more today.

Don't give up on it. They can come back even if pretty badly deteriorated.

I tried feeding it a small piece of clam this morning when all other LPS had their feeders out but the damn shrimp just came over and took everything even when trying to hold it thier they pulled it right out of my fingers

I have used a large soda bottle top or a new clean food storage container to cover my LPS once to keep my hermits at bay while it eats...

so after opening up very large since moving him the last two days he isn't opening again. Do these things go through cycles like this or am I over paranoid?

I can try to get a pic. Everything just comes out blue with a phone though.

Also no other corals are showing any signs of issues. Everything except this trachy are completely fine and thriving.
