Traded in my crispa/aurora for green BTA *pic*

The crispa/aurora was very unhappy in my tank. It seems they prefer sandy bottoms so I traded him in for a green BTA today.

Is it normal for this type of anemone to be upside down under a rock? lol

Here is a pic from the guy I got it from.

Looks like it will be a nice color, but right now it's looking a bit bleached. Make sure you're feeding well, but not over feeding, and that it's getting good light. Of course, it goes with out saying but I'm going to anyway, make sure your water parameters stay top notch.

http://www.karensroseanemones.com/ this is a good site to get some info and see pictures of the things Karen's talking about. I think there might even be some green bta pics in there so you can compare.
Good luck!

ok making sure he gets good light is impossible when he wedged himself under a rock. It also makes it 100% impossible to feed him in this location.

Should i setup a powerhead to make it uncomfortable for him to stay there and force him to move?

No, BTA's will post up under a rock, especially when adjusting to new lighting. It may saty there a day or two while acclimating itsself and it may leave its foot posted there for good. They like posting their foot under a rock/in a hole/in shaded area, so that if they need to retreat, they will not be in the open. This is normal and a sign of a healthy anem. Over the next few days, you will see him come out more and more. Prompting with food usually helps speed the process. Let it adjust and it will bloom out from under that rock for you, so long as it is healthy...any pics of its location, how its looking now, etc.

It is bleached and will need good feeding when it finally comes out. I personally like any meaty foods and I know I may get slammed for this, but I'm not a fan of silversides. I've heard that the bones can choke or tear the anem. I've also seen a lot of threads about a BTA excreting the bones and/or what's left of the food. This has never happened to me(as I've seen over the 12 months of owning BTA's) and anything fed stays in the anem.

Also, did the guy who traded keep the other anem? You should definitely let him know that he needs good light, good water, and good food. If he gave you the BTA looking like that, I hope he doesn't do the same to the crispa...

Yep.. the condition they were both in was not great but that's how he recived them in his shipment.

I fed my clowns mysis and the bta is coming out. lol

Tricky little buggers but fun as hell.

if you have some freeze-dried cyclopeeze, you can mix that with the mysis. It may also not be a bad idea to spot feed the BTA for a while if you aren't already.

For what it's worth, I liked the other anemone better...more unique.

I agree with you. Much more impressive looking.

Unfortunatly he would have never survived in my bare bottom.

He came out from under the rock so i have been feeding him krill. So far he has eaten 4 krill and probably would have eaten more but I didn't wanna push it.

When do I know to stop feeding?

From my experience, if your not feeding bony fish, they will eat non-stop. I can feed my BTA's one small mysis or 30 big ones and whatever lands on him either is eaten or falls off and is eaten by the clean-up crew. I've never had a problem with overeating...it just makes them grow faster.

Good to hear everything is going well. Selcon and garlic extreme will help promote color and health in all your anemone, corals, and fish. garlic has helped combat diseases, also.
