transferring of mandarin fish

My new 150 g tank has been cycling for about a month now. Everything seems to be fine.( touch wood )

I am waiting for the tank to cycle for another two week before I transfer everything from my current tank( 50 g ) to this new tank.( wow ... i am so excited )

My question is i have a mandarin fish in my current tank. I had him when he was just about 2" but now he is about 3" and fat.
He eat prepared food and pods which is seen in my tank.

I am going to transfer all the live rocks from my current tank to the new one but before i do this i will take a turkey baster to blow off any detritus from the rock.

My worry is , if i do this , will i kill all the pod which i assume are living in the live rock.

blowing off the rocks with a turky baster will not kill off all th pods.

i would pick them up slowly and swish them first

I'm new, and don't know to much... but I do know I'd ber VERY nervous about moving my manderin if he is doing so well in the other tank!!!

You won't kill the pods, and if your mandarin is eating prepared foods, I wouldn't worry too much about him doing well in the new tank. Just be sure that he continues to eat the prepared foods while the copepod population establishes itself in the new tank.

i think you meant knock on wood. for good luck. ;)

i agree that it will not hurt the pods to use a turkey baster on the rocks.

I would maybe dose some phytoplex or something to feed/boost pods.
We did this in my friends tank and he was teaming w/ pods in 3 weeks.
