Transplanting Sun Coral Spits

Having what should be a good problem to have with my sun corals. They are both spreading (no problem) and spitting off heads. Today's count is 26 heads throughout the tank, mostly on large rocks but 2 now in the midst of one of my terrazoanthus colonies (if the terras don't handle them, I'll have to).

Does anyone have any experience with transplanting sun corals? I would like to get them together into a single colony that I can feed and raise. I would imagine they have to be removed at the base with a razor but am not positive and would like to know for sure and know if they can be glued to a new base afterwards

Thank you in advance!

I just let mine grow where they land. They have never made into a colony. There for awhile and then fade away. Probably takes a dedicated effort to keep them fed. I have not tried that.

I have the same issue. Last count I've found 19 baby yellow and 3 baby black suncorals. I would love to keep some of them alive but there is no way I will be able to keep them all alive. Some are just too hard to reach. I guess I will pick a few that will be easy to spot feed and hope for the best.

I only have 3 baby sun corals that I can see, 2 have grown into normal sized heads over an approx 4-5 yr period, but neither have split or grown any new heads. One of them is considerably paler in color that any of the parent colonies. The other looks normal in color.

WOW that is a long time to grow to full size! I'm suprised they haven't grown any new heads. Do you target feed them or do they get by on their own? I have yellow, orange, and black suncorals. So far I can't tell the difference in the yellow/orange babies and the black are very hard to find because they almost look transparent when they are really small. My husband found one last night that was almost fully grown on the other side of the tank from the parent colony. Once you realize it is there it is easy to see but it was in a dark corner and we never spotted it before. It has become like the Where is Waldo game at our house.
