traumatized trigger!!!

well after over 10 years of having a saltwater tank I have a hawaiiain trigger that I have had for over a year and is about 6" long and a problem I've never seen or heard of.about a 6 weeks ago I was doing a water change in 155 tank .Because of both my home and business being flooded in the spring I haven't been doing maintanance like I should but the fish are all healthy physically.because my substrate had some funky looking layer about a half inch under the surface so I decided to thoroughly clean it and I hung a filter sock in the sump and stirred the bottom really good just filtered the water back into sump .did that for about 30 to 40 minutes.then did a regular water change.my trigger was always swimming around nonstop before this. after doing this water he won't swim anymore ,he just sets on the bottom of the tank.if you prod him he'll move to another spot in the tank.he hasn't ate since then that I've seen.I finally put him in quarantine with some prazipro to treat him for possible parasites.after a week in quarantine there is no change whatsoever .has anyone ever had this happen with a fish,or know of fish whisperer that I can get to talk to my traumatized trigger. Thanks Butch

Could be that you stirred up something toxic from your sandbed. Did you have other fish in the tank at the time?

I have a 12" lionfish,7"queen angel,4"blueface,2 wrasses and a 7" foxface and their doing fine.theirs more weirdness now as when I came home last night I couldn't find him in the tank.I found him lying in a pitcher with no water in it that I had on the floor so I thought my wife must've taken him out but she didn't when I picked it up took get rid of him he flopped over and was alive his skin dry so he had been in there awhile.he must have jumped out of the tank flopped around on the floor until he ended up in the pitcher .I put him back in the tank and he took off swam for minute and went right back to the bottom.so I guess I interrupted a suicide attempt.this is so weird its unbelievable.Butch

Probably not something in the sandbed then, maybe just too much stress from you being in the tank so much after not doing much in the tank for a while. I'm not sure there is anything more that you can really do besides contacting an aquatic veterinarian. I would try to make sure the tank is very well covered though and double check all your parameters just in case.
