Treating in QT

I got a potters from divers den and he's been in qt for about a month. He looks good and eats very good but have noticed that he is starting to rub against the PVC pipe and twitch a little. There are no visible signs of anything but figured I better start treating in case. Was thinking about doing a week of prazipro and then 2 weeks of cupramine. (1)Does this sound like a good plan to you guys? Also I have a couple live rocks in there for bio filtration. (2)Should I take the rocks out for the prazipro or just for the cupramine? And one more question. (3) When I take the rocks out should I get some amonia absorbing chemicals for filtration?

Thanks for any info.

I'm no expert, but I would not treat a fish that has no visible signs of ich for ich. I'm not sure that "flashing" is a sign of flukes either. No matter what, if you use cupramine you cannot use any water conditioners for ammonia, etc., because they will increase the dose of copper to toxic levels.

You said the Potters was in QT, but is he in hypo? Patience...see what happens over the next two weeks to four weeks. You planned for him to be in there anyway. You don't need meds to get rid of ich. At worst, he sits in QT an extra two months. If you medicate there is a whole slew of things that could go wrong.

Yes trying to have patience and do this right. So far there are no visible signs of anything except an occasional twitch and rub on PVC. Other than that he looks great and eats everything. I am not doing hypo right now because at first my plan was to QT for at least 6 weeks and see if anything was wrong. If so I thought why do anything if all is well. I figured if I got him from divers den that they already treated him for certain things and QT him there as well.

imo i always treat my qt with copper safe from mardel weather or not the fish in it is sick i constantly run copper in qt there is no negative affect that i have experienced with this methode and i even do this with angels butterflys ect...... it would not hurt to dod so b/c by what your saying here that the fish is twitching and scratching thats a pretty high chance that he is catching something although not always...

Well I went ahead and treated with prazipro right now and had to leave home for about 5 days. I have my wife watching and feeding him. When I get back I am going to start treating with cupramine so I can test and monitor dosage.
