I think my new purple tang has ick. large reef and i'm open for any suggestions. I highly doubt I will be able to catch him, theres too many hiding spots. It sounds like the only real way to cure it is to treat all the fish w/ copper. I currently don't have one set up, but that will change tomarrow.
Can the main display br treated if I was to take out all the LR,coral, inverts, and fish? Would the sand be contaminated? every one talks about QT's, man I wish I would have bit the bullet on that one. Well, anyways I need to do somehting, so would anyone give me a little guidence on this issue?
thanks
mike

Do NOT add any copper based treatment to your main tank. Set up a quarantine tank, cy le it and then treat your infected fish. note that all fish exposed need to be treated. How many fish and what types do you have? Are you certain your tang has ich? You said You think it does. What are you seeing?

I just got him from the LFS Thursday. He hid for a day, and then came out and has been cuisin' the tank eating when fed. I noticed 5 or 6 tiny white spots on his fins last night. Seems very active w/ good appitite. Have quite a few fish 8 chromies, 2 perculas, 2 diamond gobies, watchman gobie, bicolor blenny, canary blenny, firefish, radiant wrasse, purple dottyback.
