treatment for gigantea vs haddoni?

I see alot of mention of treatment for gigantea on this forum but not as much for haddoni anemones. From what I've read (please correct me if I'm wrong), the current recommendation is to begin treating gigantea anemones with Septra DS first and then follow with Cipro if the Septra was ineffective.

How does this treatment scheme apply to haddoni anemones? Would you do the same thing for haddoni anemones as well? Would Cipro be a more 'proven' way of treating haddoni anemones (only because I haven't read much about haddoni anemones being treated with Septra)?

Both work well, Cipro is the big gun. It's a very broad spec antibiotic.

The reason you don't hear a lot about Haddoni treatments is because Haddoni's are very hardy compared to Gigantea's. Most I've had never needed treatment. However, my current Haddoni has been treated twice with Septra. I've been very pleased with the results.

Had he not responded to Septra, I would have changed to Cipro.

Not knowing any better regarding which bacterial are the most frequent pathogens for any of the anemones, I would use either Cipro or Septra to treat them. Push come to shove, any antibiotic that have reasonable gram negative coverage.

Would you guys use Septra first and then Cipro second for treating haddoni anemones? I can't seem to find many threads of successful cipro treatments with haddoni anemones in particular. All the logs of haddoni anemones being treated with Cipro seem to die after 2-3 days. Even the only listed haddoni thread in OrioN's cipro treatment instructional ended up dying.

Almost all of the LFS around me are having big sales this weekend so I may pick up a new haddoni and I just wanted to try to be as prepared as possible. I actually have both cipro and septra on hand, QT set up, water mixed, etc Originally, I planned on starting Cipro treatment if I felt the anemone was doing poorly in QT. However, the more logs that I read of people recording Cipro treatment on haddoni anemones, the more I feel hesitant to use it. All the logs that I've read of people using cipro for haddoni on this forum and other forums ended with the haddoni dying. The only accounts of a haddoni being treated successfully with cipro were people saying it as a statement but not in a log.

Argh, don't know what to do!

You can use either. If you have both antibiotics I would start with Septra. If the anemone does not response then change to Ciprofloxacin

I have personally had amazing results with my Haddoni using Septra.

My Haddoni has acting weird since i put some more Nems in my tank and is currently deflated. If he's not reinflated and I have to treat, I post the results here.
