I've got a Mandarin that's been in the tank a little over a week.
Tank = 75, with 35 gallon sump/fuge, up for 2+ months, and 90% of the 100 lbs of live rock came from local tanks up for 2 years or more (transported wet), so pods everywhere in the tank and fuge. (it's so bad it's like committing mass murder running the magfloat over the herds of little ones on the glass day and night)
Water tests perfect with new salifert test kits.
In the last 2 1/2 days, he's developed a small ragged white hole in his skin to the right of his 1st dorsal spine, that often trails a bit of stringy white filament. His behaviour hasn't changed at all, still feeding away all day long.
It's not white sand in his mucus coat, or the nets of vermited snails. He's had both off those off and on all the time, and we're used to seeing that.
There are no 'nems in the tank that would have resulted in a stinging incident.
It's exactly like this description off of fishpharmacy dot com:
"L). White threads grow out of white and red edged wounds, and form cottony puffs Fungus is infecting the wound Treat with: Malachite Green -or- Forma-Green -or- Nitrofuracin Green "
Any comment on what this might be, and advice for treatment? Product and method?
(yes, I can have a QT tank up in about 2 hours if necessary)
