Treatment for Mouth Sores on Butterfly fish

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but how do u guys use nitrofuracin green? Do you have to do daily water changes? I've heard some people just dose once. Please tell me how you dosed it and for how long. Did u guys do daily water changes?

I use it in a separate ten gallon tank, and to 25 percent water changes daily.

does NFG work well for mouth sores associated with not eating? its a 75 gal QT so i think i just dose once and wait 5days then do 25% water change and dose again. is that correct?

In a QT that large yes, it's a good broad spectrum antibiotic IME.

I've been reading that methylene blue kills nitrifying bacteria. Will NFG kill my biological filter?

Possibly, meant to say earlier I do a 90 percent water change on the ten gallon daily withNFG powder. I get mixed up at times. Best to have an ammonia alert badge and feed lightly. Every other day feeding works.

I successfully treated a Muelleri Butterflyfish with NGP in a 20 gal QT for a mouth/side body bacterial infection. Not fun, but the 25% daily w/c with full re-dose is necessary with open wounds.

Also, the fish may be chasing itself or bumping into the glass in QT further irritating the mouth sore.
