Tri color bulb nem lighting ?

Just returned from a sweet frag swap. Made a few impulse buys......

We wanted a nem tank for a while. So at the end of the swap we traded some leftover corals for a lil nem and bought some snowflake clowns.

Tank just got set up last night. 15 gallon bare bottom need more live rock. Tomorrow from lfs. Lighting is t-5 ho 36 watt. 2 bulb now but could throw another 2 bulb fixture on if needed. Whatcha think ?? The nem looks happy and it's half under a rock. Clowns were starting to host it already.

Btw no sump either.

You set up the tank last night and have the fish and nem in there already? I hope you used some water and rock from an established tank :)

T5s are good, but I would want more than just two bulbs over it. The anemone may eventually grow out a 15 gallon tank too

Anyone know what par the news should be kept at? I have a par meter I could use. Maby my lights I have on the tank right now would be good enuf.

I've no idea what par a bubble tip anemone requires but I do know it will move around to find the spot it likes best. I currently have 3 bta 14" under 2 x 24w T5 ATI coral and Blue plus bulbs. One nem is bubbled the other two are more stringy. I would consider this as minimun amount of light required to keep a bta. I intened to add another bulb or led strip to this tank to keep my btas happier.

Well thats good to know. Its the end of day one now. The nem looks nice and the bulbs are full and fluffy. Its holding the rock great as well.

wait.... so you have a tank set up yesterday and you already have two clowns and an anemone in it? whats worse is that it has less lr than average and less than recommended light. I hate to be the downer here but i just cant see this ending well at all. anemones are supposed to be put in after a year for a mature tank. btas are reccomended for at least 30 gallons no less. they also contribute enough waste to equal about two fish. plus, the inadequate light coupled with unstable conditions= anemone death which will create a spike big enough to kill a 70 gallon tank let alone 15. again, i feel bad that i have to be the bearer of bad news but this scenario doesnt look good. if you decide to try it good luck and be ready for huge water changes

Haha I was waiting for someone to chime in saying the tank will crash lol.
If you read at all I'm putting more cycled lr in today. 15 gallons now but if need be I will upgrade. People need to lighten up on here. I have a tang in my 75 it's so posed to be 1 ft by now. The lil booger is only 5 inches.

Do not chime in unless you have news your self please. I too can read a book or the web and find out what you just wrote. :bum:

haha i am fairly light i just could see this ending the wrong way. and you have to admit some people dont do their research first. for all i knew you could be going in blind.

It's ok. It's been a while since I've posted on here due to know it alls with no tank.:headwallblue:

Yea im not flying in blind. I was just wondering what others would use.

ok im sorry for jumping to conclusions then. back to the original question then i would add a bit more light. ive always been told 3-5 watts per gallon depending on feeding. back to the fact that its a small tank id use more light, less feeding.

I have a 20 gallon with 9 bta's that are doing well exept for one guy who crawled into a cave and shrunk. I have a tiny refugium that has macroalgae and lit by a 150 14000k mh light. The parameters have kept stable except for the salinity. It worked out well but I am upgrading to a 46 bowfront just to give them some more space. They all host my pair of occy clowns, starry blennie and mandarin. I say give lots of light. PC didn't seem to be enough for my nems but they did fin with t5 and mh. Just make sure you provide more light than to little you can alway shorten the photo period.
