tri zonal?

fullmonti

now is the time
any one have any experience with Steve Tyree tri zonal system of natural filtration, or some variant?

been thinking about changing over.

some more info would be good!

it's true, lots of articles on this subject. But I was hoping for people how actually have used the system in one form or another, & may be pix &/or comments on what worked & what didn't, since we all know every one sets things up little differently.

any one?

I've combined it with the berlin method. Here's a pic of the sump room. the black containers are filled with live rock loaded with sponges, squirts and pods. I'm a huge fan of it as long as you have a sump room and plenty of room for live rock. Most of my rock started dry to save $.

Bill, nice set up. Do you have any concern w/ detritus building up at the bottom of those tubs?

Are you growing any sps in there or mostly just softies and lps?

No worries about detritus building up. The rock provides enough office space for the microfauna to breed and consume the detritus. I have a 6 foot frag tank tied to the system with SPS thriving on frag plugs. A few high end stuff but mostly birdsnest and pocillipora.
