I just stumbled across a large tricinctus female that someone had brought into a store to get rid of. they didnt know what they had, so i picked her up for super cheap and better than that....super healthy. beautiful fish.

but now im wondering if anyone has seen any stray tricinctus at any local stores, looking for one i could use as a male to pair up.

PM me if necessary!

Correction, I have the a. tricinctus....accidentally signed in under a friends name....

help me find a mate!

I may be able to help you. I have a trio of tricinctus for 3 years. Have been fine together. Grew into dominant female and 2 males (?). Neither of the smaller ones remained subadult. However, never spawned. Sometime last week one of the males became persona nongrata. I have been trying to isolate him without tearing everything apart. I do not think things will return to a peaceful grouping. You can see 1 year old pics at my webpage (Tank 2). Will post a newer pic when I have time this week.

Well, it managed to swim into my corral sometime today, so is now separated by some eggcrate. It is about 3.5 inches long. Had it since Oct, 2005. Cannot be sure of gender, but pretty certain male. I base that on the fact that the smaller of the trio is the one chasing it around viciously. the large female (almost 5 inches) leaves it alone.

here are some terrible pictures of mine. ignore the spots, theyre simply stuff on the glass i havent cleaned off. shes a big fish, measuring about four inches. very confident fish, wonderful to watch and not very tolerant of the flame hawkfish i have in with her.
