Hey everyone, i've got a 125 gal. tank that i want to set-up as a reef tank. I've got the general gist as to what i need to do, but i need a roadmap so to speak. could someone give me a step-by-step on how to connect the trickle filter and protien skimmer up to the tank. also, do i need a large protien skimmer? what size pump should i use?

thanks

Advise
Alot more reading is required
Keep in mind that a trickle is great for a Fish only with a large load
But for a reef it will turn into a haven for dinitus I would remove most to all of the bio material
good luck

i'm going to build it, so i can make it however i need it. but i thought the more biological filtration the better? i just need to know how exactly to make it.

thanks man

but i thought the more biological filtration the better? NO!!!! let your live rock be your biological filter.
more live rock = Good
more Bioballs = BAD

Check out melevs website for sumps and how to build. On the skimmer, bigger is usually better if the performance is the same. Check out reefoctopus, asm and deltec skimmers. They have gallon ratings but you should go to the next bigger size. Find some books on setting up a reef .
