Tricolor Acro

So i brought this lil guy home about 5 or 6 months ago and its done great up until about 2 weeks ago. in that time frame i havent seen the polyps extend, day or night, but it still has its color and has grown wonderfully. The only thing that i have changed is my calcium levels. I started daily dosing with the Kents Ca. - followed all dircetions and this is the only ill-effect i have seen. parameters are all good......

Any ideas??

might as well go ahead and post up your water parameters as im sure it will be asked. any changes in salinity?
where is it in your tank, what lighting you got etc,
I have an acro that hasnt really extended any polyps for a while, moved it to the sandbed and it has done a little better, havent gotten the color back yet but at least the polyps are out.

pH - 8.2,
NH3 - 0ppm
NO3 - 0ppm
NO2 - 0ppm
Sal. -1.021
Ca - 400ppm - started at 320ppm 1-1.5 weeks ago

No changes in anything, minus the daily dosing of CA
Using PC's, bulbs approx 6 mo. old

The acro is still keeping its Purple color, just no extension (for now)

My green slimer is on the other side of the tank, at the same level as this acro, and is doing wonderfully

raise the salinity....1.021 is too low for a reef. Fish only like that as the lower salinity provides for more disolved oxygen. I'm doing 10 things at the same time at the moment so someone correct me if I am wrong.

I agree with turbo you need to raise your salinity .021 is too low. as far as red bugs go, look at the coral very close they look like little red fleas on the coral. they are very hard to see until you know what your looking for. Chad knows all about red bugs he is the expert on them.

i ran .1021 for years without any probs with sps. actually my tank did better back then than it did when i upped it....(of course a million other things changed since then too)

here's a pic:

well dagnabit, looks like i have some of dem redbugs too, first pest in the tank now identified.

here is a link i found to some treatments, lots of reading though
redbug cure

ill let you know how mine goes, im going to set back up my old QT tank that i just tore down and put 10 gal in it to try and get this to work. ill keep you posted, will probably get it done in the next few days

I have some Interceptor tablets if you are inclined to treat this way. I have 6 tablets of 2.3 mg each (2-10 lb dogs) which is a full box. Want to swap for some acro frags? No...wait...your acro is infested with redbugs. LOL. (LOL is for my joke not your infestation)

Your treatment with Interceptor should be in a QT since it will most likely kill plenty of other inverts if you treat in the tank.

My daughter works for a vet so I can get more as needed. Want to go this route?

I was told tha you are not cool until you have had red bugs.
Welcome to the cool club.
