Tridacna crocea

Awright

New member
I have the opportunity to purchase one Tridacna crocea electric blue 4" for $36.00 from a friend.

I am concerned that my cleaner wrasse would pick on him. Does anyone have any experience with clams & cleaner wrasses?
Here is a pic from the guy I will be buying it from.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

wrasses dont hve a bad reputation for pickinkg at clams. but do you mind if i ask what kind of "cleaner wrasse" you have. Do you have a pic of the wrasse?

I've never heard of any wrasses bothering clams...people actually buy 6-lines to "guard" their clams from pyramid snails.....oh wait, I lie...

http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/cav1i3/Clam_care/Clam_care.htm

"Some cleaner wrasses have proven to be destructive to clams, nibbling on their mantles and otherwise preventing full expansion."

http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/pfk/pages/show_article.php?article_id=195

"Some fish may peck at clams. Experts suggest avoiding Copperband butterflies, Chelmon rostratus or Cleaner wrasse, Labroides dimidiatus."

And you my friend, have a L. dimidiatus

I'm sure somewhere though someone has this guy with a clam and they probably get along great..thats the way this hobby goes... () : )

Good luck trying to get the guy out of your 150 if you go for it though...hehe

Cheers,
