In Memoriam
I may be the only person on the planet who cares about this. And that's okay. Here's my story.
My favorite fish is a possum wrasse. I have had two of the three different species of possum wrasses known to man for about 2 years. I have been searching for the third one for some time. I've called and e-mail all over the country trying to find someone who has heard of it (Wetmorella albofasciata). I received basically the same answer from everyone. "You probably won't find it because collectors only collect what people are looking to buy. No one is looking to buy this fish." So, alas, I had given up.
I was at a LFS last night and saw a little possum wrasse. I thought it was the same arrowhead wrasse I already have despite the fact that the color of this one was grayish red rather than bright red. I just thought it is stressed.
I bought the fish because I did not like how the store had it crammed in a little cube with 4 mean camel shrimp. I thought it would stress the sensitive little fish, and it would die. Call it a mercy purchase.
I was looking at the new fish today and it's color has not changed. Then I realize it has a white X through it's eye. This is the marking of the fish I have been searching for!! Ends up I accidentally bought the fish out of a desire to save it and it was destiny.
Now I have all three possum wrasses! I just hope it will acclimate well. It's a problem for these fish.
Here's a bad pic of the new fish. It's still shy.
Here's a pic of the other two possum wrasses I've had for a couple of years.
