Trigger compatible cleaner?

I had a cleaner shrimp, and took a chance by adding a Picasso trigger. After a few weeks, the shrimp is gone. Now my neon gobies either have ick, or some white spot skin disease. Are there any cleaner fish or inverts that would be safe with a Trigger fish?

I also have a tomato clown, banded goby, some snails, and LR.

JM,

Are you referrig to the neon gobies which are often used as cleaners? If so this would be odd that they have contracted ick. Unfortunately the trigger you have can be a very aggressive fish particularly as it gets older. Granted not the most aggressive but one that will eat any shrimp if it can. The cleaner wrasses are a great group of fish for cleaning but if you do not have a large enough fish poplution they will starve. Also don't be suprised if your neon gobies disappear as well. ICK is a bacterial parasite and everpresent in most tanks. It usually does not affect your fish if they are healthy. You want to be sure you water parameters are near perfect, your salt levels are adequate and your fish are getting the correct nutrition from what you feed them. Without knowing these situations with your tank I can't really offer advice on why you may have ICK.

Humu and cleaner shrimp don't mix. There are some triggers that will that I have experienced (blueline from sri lanka, niger, blue jaw, queen, clown). Sounds like a tough situation though, been in that predicament myself.

Danorth,

Wow your lucky to have been able to keep the cleaners with the clown triggers. My clown always ate them along with my pink tail.

My cleaner shrimp is ok after all. He must have been hiding, or possibly molting behind the live rock. The way he is hiding, he must realize that he could become the triggers dinner!

Also, my neon gobies are looking much improved after feeding them flake food with garlic. I am not sure if it was ich or some other skin disease, however they are definitely recovering.

Triggers and cleaners = trouble. With the exception of the blue jaws I have in my tank. Not sure about what other triggers other than maybe a pink tail.

I've both M & F Blue Throats (3") and they are fine with 3 lg Cleaner & 3 lg Fire Shrimps (all about 1.75-2.25"). I also have angels, butterflies and tangs in there and I don't see any of them nip on the shrimps but at the same time I don't see any fish go to their cleaning stations. Not sure if the shrimps larger size have anything to do with it.
