I have his wife also...

I have never seen them pick at anything... The female does spend more time in the caves so I don't know if I have any shrimp left.

I had a pair of bluethroats ,a pink tail, and a niger in my 150 gal.The niger was the smallest 2 inches, all fish were very docile in fact they never bothered any other fish in the tank and I had 23 fish. The trigs were about 3 to 4 inches, maybe when they get 6 inches they maybe differant but I have seen a 6 inch pink tail at my LFS and the owner used to pet him.I would get them small and have them grow in the tank.In general they will eat the food you give them and not anything else.I found some niger triggers do become more agressive later but if you add them last and get them when they are small you should be fine.I still think the bluethroat is the most docile

not a good idea at all to have any kind of trigger in a reef system. I have a niger in mine, and he eats all the shrimps that i put in plus reef safe small fishes, whom can not out run his sharp teeth . NO NO for triggers !!!

I have a Niger in my reef. I actually got him from a guy that said it ate all his shrimp. He's been a great citizen in my tank, doesn't bother anything, not even the peppermint shrimp if it sits right in front of him. These are hit or miss in a reef - I think it depends on the individual.

I have had a niger, and a blue throat in a reef before. Blue throat was definietely more docile, but both were fine. My niger went after a few crabs, snails, and onrnamental shrimp. (not cleaners though. But I believe IMO that pink tails are going to be the most well manered, but they tend to be the largest of the 3.

I have a niger in my reef and he is a saint!

Shrimps are fine as long as they were there before the triggers are introduced.

Bluethroat, crosshatch, pinktail and niger are all reef safe if done right. Add them as the last fish and buy them young! :)

Good choice,

I have male blue throat for year now in reef, never touched a coral, shrimp or fish, mowes down algae though, oh and great personality! Good Luck..

my niger is 3" and is a pretty aggresive eater....dont get in his way when being fed...he also loves to dig around the rocks stirring up sand and making burrows.....I'd pass if i had it to do over.
