Trigger species tank..

Over the past few days, I've been contemplating setting up my 90 FOWLR as a species tank, with only one large(ish) fish.. I'm thinking either a puffer or trigger... with a few smaller fish such as damsels.

I don't have tons of experience with Triggers (I had a blue throat for a few months but that's about it).. but I've read quite a bit.

What Trigger will have the 'best' personality; and fit comfortably in my 90?

Depends on your definition of best. Do you want something active, something friendly, or something mean?

Most triggers turn into dogs when they realize you=food.

..this is essentially what I'm looking for. I like fish that pay attention to you. Aggressive/"mean"/"nice" etc isn't all that important in this case.

An adult picasso trigger would fit in that size tank, grunt and beg for food, rearrange your scape for you and maybe give a nip every once in awhile. They are fearless, beautiful, and can be mixed with other aggressive fish. Most of the time.

If I had to vote for one trigger in a 90, this would be the one.

I've had a blue throat before. Actually, I'm thinking of going the 'peaceful route' here with fish now. Still a FOWLR but with more docile tankmates like butterflies and smaller fish.

By the way.. your signature, is that current?

you may wanna contemplate on adding butterflies first in that case so they wont be freaked out by the trigger

Right. After doing a lot of thinking and reading... with a 90 gallon, IMO, really a Trigger shouldn't have any tankmates. One of the reasons why I'm no longer considering a trigger for this system.

Get 1 Huma Huma.. Thats all you will need

A teselata eel or undulated trigger if you want one fish as those are the coolest "one fish only" Otherwise go with a Tusk to model a FOWLR around, then add butterflies etc. The Tusk will give you the big teeth and cool look like a trigger, but not such a risk.
