Trigger

I have 2 Bluejaw Triggers that finally paired up after 4 1/2 months...

They have never gone after any of my coral. Most of my inverts are safe except for the feeder shrimp I got from R2G. My cleaner shrimp, and fire shrimp are never bothered, and even clean the triggers from time to time.

There must be something about the way the cleaner shrimp move (especially when they are swimming) that triggers a feeding response...

Besides that, the only issues I've had is that they are very competitive when it comes to feeding time, and will often eat all of the food before other fish can get to it. I just feed the triggers on one side, and all other fish on the other side simultaneously... Problem solved...

niger, pink tail, bt, ch, kiri may work, depends on the individual...but, I do not trust trigs...

check out Tony's article on Nigers in a reef...think Aquarium Mag- 2009...also discusses pinktails...

From what I remember, Xanthichthys triggers feed from the water column and are the best suited triggers for reef tanks. This includes blue throat and sargassum triggers (also the crosshatch trigger, which is one of my favorite fish but too expensive for me).
