Tripod Question

I have a tripod (Quatarray 6601) that I purchased when I bought my Panasonic point and shoot. It served its purpose at that time. I have since purchased a Canon XTI. I hate that I have to screw on the camera each time. It takes too many turns to mount and unmount the camera. Is there any other alternative that I can use besides purchasing a "ball head"? A ball head is too much money for me at this time.

there are endless options if you are just looking for a quick release head...

almost all new tripods have a quick release plate you just leave on you camera...
