Tropic Marin Pro Reef

I just picked up a box from Salty today. Do you like it? I'm going to try it out and see if it's worth the cost.

red sea coral reef salt is really good i used tropic marin pro reef it is good to kinda pricey.usally 19 or so for a 25 pound box and get a 50 pound bucket of red sea coral reef for around 16.95 at aquatic tech.

I did... switched away from it after one bucket though. I didn't see any benefit from using it, and still had to buffer the Alk to get it where I needed. Also, my batch was VERY low in Mag for some reason.

In my opinion, I didn't see a big difference between adding a cap of Alk buffer to the Tropic Marin Pro Reef, or adding a cap of Ca buffer to Reef Crystals... oh except you save $40 w/ Reef Crystals.

FWIW... I now use a 50/50 blend of Instant Ocean and Coralife, and am very happy with the corresponding values I get out of the freshly mixed salt water.

That's interesting TJ. I run my KH at 8 and I was looking for a salt that had a lower KH level in it because I'm starting Zeovit and you are supposed to run a 6.5-7.8 KH with Zeo. But the important thing to me was the MG. I wanted a mix that had a higher level of Mg. So I will test it tomorrow when I do a WC.

I have been really interested in the Coralife salt though. I have heard some pretty good things about it. I think the Coralife has a pretty low KH too. Maybe an option after this bucket is done.

Yeah I was looking for a Alk of around 10 dKH, and it was hard for me to find a salt that was balanced at that level. For what you're aiming for, it sounds like Tropic Marin Pro may be a good fit. I may have gotten a bad batch, because the posted Mag level is 1380 ppm... and when I tested my freshly mixed water, I never got values higher than 1200 ppm.

Ok just mixed some up
Mg 1300
Kh 6.5
Ph 8.3

So ill try this out. If I like it I may buy some IO and mix it to offset some cost.
